About Me
My name is Khary Reynolds and I am the founder of The Sophisticated Investor Blog, and an active Real Estate Investor in the Baltimore-Washington, DC. corridor.
I first started investing in Real Estate in August of 2003 and was like the majority of people who were lured into the industry by the thought of buying property “no money down”, making tons of money, driving nice cars, and living the lifestyle that most people dream about. I was right out of college and I was eager to make my real estate dreams come true…by the next week! 
I immediately quit my job and began building my business, or so I thought. I hit the ground running hard and had a few successes. Although my business was profitable, the stress and frustration I felt due to the constant prospecting with unmotivated sellers, missed opportunities, clueless Realtors, and unreliable lenders, caused me to do what the majority of other Real Estate Investors do in times of frustration….QUIT!!
I went back to my corporate job mentally and emotionally bruised and moved forward in my career. I have spent most of my adult life in the music industry as an audio equipment specialist, designing and selling audio equipment solutions to major record producers, corporate facilities, and mega churches throughout the country. I was paid strictly on commission and I made a good living and was able to provide my family with a good lifestyle UNTIL….
“The Recession!!”
That’s right! The recession began to take a toll on my business, long before the experts labeled it a recession! All of a sudden my income had dropped by 60%!
Now, the one bad thing about having a good income, is “not having it anymore”!
I knew I had to do something to supplement my income and I had to do it fast. I knew that I needed to build a lasting business for my family, something that could thrive even in a recession.
I began to think about my long lost friend…Real Estate.
I knew that building a Real Estate Investing Business was my key to freedom.
I decided that I really wanted to dedicate myself to real estate and I decided to go back to school to get my Masters degree in Real Estate.
Upon graduation, I came to the realization that the recession had killed just about any chance of getting a decent job in the Real Estate industry so I decided to focus all of my energy into investing full-time.
The Sophisticated Investor has been created to serve as a resource for anyone looking to learn and develop the skill and strategies needed to become a better real estate investor. Whether you are a new or seasoned real estate investor, all are welcomed.
